Khenpo Wangchuk entered Thrangu Monastery and went forth at a young age, taking vows from Kyabje Thrangu Rinpoche. Then for three years he studied and trained in the different practice liturgies and procedures, etc. Following this he entered the Thrangu Vajra Vidya Institute where he took his studies of the five major topics and the general fields of knowledge to completion and was the epitome of diligence and steadfastness.
Kyabje Thrangu Rinpoche then appointed him as a teacher and he taught for many years at Thrangu Shree Mangal Dvip school, and at both the foundational course and higher Buddhist studies programme of Thrangu Vajra Vidya Institute. In this way he made a major contribution and was given the title master (Skt. Acharya / Tib. Lopon).
Then he undertook a long retreat following the tradition of the Karma Kamtsang Practice Lineage, which lasted more than four years. This took place at Thrangu Sekhar Retreat Centre where he gave rise to excellent meditative experience and realisation through his practice of the preliminaries, the path of method’s Six Yogas of Naropa, the path of liberation’s Mahamudra and the non-dual tantra’s Kalachakra.
On completion of the retreat he returned to teach at the Thrangu Vajra Vidya Institute and was instated as a khenpo (professor).
At present, he is giving teachings and instructions in the profound dharma to the Chinese, Western and local students at Thrangu Sekhar Retreat Centre, and thereby accomplishing meaningful activity for the Buddhadharma.
