Good Friends Have Good Friends
Be a good friend to people and you will never be short of good friends yourself. A good friend is honest and straight forward. So don’t cheat your friends for some small personal gain. That little something you might win by telling a fib will not last very long, but the seed of distrust and annoyance you will have sown in the mind of your friend will not easily fade away.
You may think that you can get away with your cunning schemes, that people will not work out what you are up to, but that is not how things work. Everyone has two eyes and two ears and the truth is we are very observant. People are not as easily deceived as you might think. You may hoodwink somebody once, but don’t expect to them to be so gullible a second time, and do not be surprised when they change their attitude towards you afterwards.
Some people tell lies or deceive others for no reason whatsoever or for the slightest thing. That sort of person is not respected by others, they will not have many friends they can rely on in times of need. If you take advantage of people now, in the long run you will lose more than you gain.
By being honest and not doing or saying selfish or unpleasant things behind people’s backs, you will be respected and praised. When your name comes up in conversation people will speak well of you.
Let’s say that you meet some new people, friends of friends, if your friends respect you they will have spoken well of you and sown positive seeds in the minds of the new people. So these new people will be open and welcoming to you, and willing to give you a second chance if you did not make a decent account of yourself on that first meeting.
To put it simply, be a good friend and you will happily have many good friends wherever you go.
