Buddhas in Waiting

A good student will appreciate and feel fortunate to have their faults pointed out by their lama, because they are trying to change and improve themselves. Since they are a good student they will know that their ultimate nature is good and pure, and that the faults are transient or incidental. So they will not become down or discouraged on learning where their faults lie.

Some people prefer not to know their flaws, this is because they think that they are bad in their very nature, and that seeing the faults will not help them because they are inherently flawed.

But if someone comes to know or believes that they are naturally pure, as the Buddha taught, they will become a person full of confidence, because they know that if they can just remove these transient blemishes everything will be excellent and they will suffer no longer.
