Visits to Prisons and an Orphan

On May 5th in Malawi, I spent the day visiting prisoners in the country of Malawi. In the morning, I went to a young offenders institute, offering a few words of advice and answering questions as best I could. In the afternoon, I went to another prison and also spoke a few words and responded to questions.

It is well known that many past masters gained realisation while incarcerated. During these visits, the thought occurred to me that if I were ever imprisoned, I might be able to further my own practice and offer some slight benefit to many of my fellow inmates.
In the evening, I went to see an orphan baby.

I am not someone who usually prioritises money, but today, on seeing with my own eyes the plight of these people, I thought if I had some resources, I could temporarily alleviate their hardships to some degree.
Don’t be sad. One day I will help you and make you happy; this is my hope and prayer.
